Small Birds, Markmaking
In this workshop, we’ll explore how to paint small birds using acrylics in a loose, expressive style, with a strong emphasis on mark-making. You'll learn how to capture the essence and personality of birds through bold, intuitive brushwork. We'll dive into techniques like loading and off-loading your brush to create confident, dynamic strokes,
building your painting one mark at a time. This session is designed to help you tap into a more instinctive painting process, opening the door to
expressive mark-making and allowing your personal style to shine through in every brushstroke. You’ll take home a small canvas you painted yourself, featuring a beautiful little bird.

Urban Portraits Workshop
Urban Portraits
Date: Saturday 25 October 2025 Time: 10.00 am – 2.30 pm at Splashout Art Studios, 5 Ravine Street, Marino, SA.
Included in your fee: large, quality stretched canvas, full selection of acrylic paint, all tools and sundries.
BYO: brushes (or purchase a 4-brush kit for $30) lunch/snack

Urban Portraits
In this workshop you’ll create an expressive, funky, portrait of the person or creature of your choice. Bring your own A4 sized photocopy of a photo, and Cat will talk you through the process step by step with live painting demonstrations.

In this Celebrity Alla Prima workshop you’ll be Working in oils, and you will complete a celebrity portrait ‘alla prima’ (in one session).
You get to nominate which celebrity you’d like to paint. Let us know who and we’ll source the photo for your nominated celebrity! Your photo will be ready for you to paint at the Workshop with expert guidance and support from Cat.
